Summer fun in the Val d'Isere sun
Tuesday, 12 July 2011 12:00 AM
While most Brits might think of Val d’Isere and other Alpine towns primarily as ski resorts, they actually offer great places to holiday all year round.
The town offers a pleasant climate, stunning views of France’s oldest national park and a fantastic range of exciting activities.
Walkers, mountaineer, fishers, nature lovers and cyclists all descend on the Vanoise National Park in the summer months, while the Iseran Mountain Pass and Ouillette Lake also provide superb views that live long in the memory.
However, while there are plenty of summer activities to keep visitors occupied, the Pissaillas glacier provides summer skiing and snowboarding on seven slopes.
A number of special events are also set to take place, with the Tarentaise Ice Scramble, the Avalanche de jeux Games Festival and the MTB French National Cup 2011 sure to keep holidaymakers entertained.
Other French ski resorts that offer summer shredding include Les Deux Alpes and Tignes.
