New and exciting holiday ideas are now available as a specialist adventure operator is offering trips to previously inaccessible arctic regions.
The announcement by World Expeditions, who specialise in group trekking and adventure travel holidays, means that for the first time western visitors will be able to enjoy voyages to the Russian Arctic and Far East.
Launching in a matter of weeks these itineraries are rugged and off the beaten track, including voyages on a 50-passenger vessel which enables visitors to experience the harsh beauty of the arctic landscape in comfort and safety.
Despite the recession the industry has seen a large rise in holidaymakers looking to take ‘the path less travelled’, a clear departure from the usual seaside package deal.
These new trips take in the uninhabited islands off the shores of Chukotka, the forests and snow-capped peaks of Kamchatka and the volcanic islands of the Kuril Chain, where the highest density of seabirds in Asia can be found.
Departing from Alaska ‘The Top of the World’ package travels through the Bering Strait and all the way to Russia, discovering forgotten deserts and the native Chukchi people.
