If you feel like brightening up your January with a luxurious weekend, the historic and picturesque city of Oxford has plenty to offer.
However, with so many old buildings, history and battle sites to take in, visitors may want to consider taking guided tours of the major attractions.
Among the specialist tour operators with breaks in Oxford are Holts Tours, who are offering a three-day visit to the city with five-star accommodation and a walking tour from January 26th to 29th.
On the itinerary is Merton College, founded in 1264, which became the model for all Oxbridge colleges, and Christ Church, home of Charles I’s court during the civil war.
The tour also stops at locations used in the Harry Potter films, as well as visiting the site of the Battle of Edgehill of 1642 and the grave of Sir Winston Churchill.
Prices start from £435 per person, based on two sharing including accommodation, a lunch and entrance fees to all attractions.
