Ice sailing adventure in Latvia

If you are not frightened of the cold and are looking for a unique adventure holiday then you could try sailing across a frozen river in Latvia.
A three-night ice sailing break is being offered by adventure holiday company Baltic Adventures on the River Daugava – the longest in Latvia.
Holidaymakers will be able to watch a demonstration of ice sailing, which is thought to have originated in the Netherlands more than three hundred years ago, and try it for themselves in mono and dual-hull yachts.
There will also be a chance to compete in an ice sailing regatta.
To relax after the hard work, ice sailors will be treated to a sauna, a shot of vodka and a barbeque.
Prices start from £200 per person for three-star bed and breakfast accommodation, transfers and activities, but not including flights, for departures throughout March 2007.
Return flights from London Gatwick with British Airways start from £43 (ba.com).
