If you are feeling the pinch, as most of us are, and still want our well deserved family, summer holiday, then why not try out a cheap Corfu holiday for the family.
Corfu is located off the west coast of mainland Greece and is the most Northern of the seven Ionian Islands and has a perfect summer temperature for your ultimate summer tan.
The perfect resorts for families in Corfu would be Sidari or Kassiopi. Sidari is a typical package holiday resort. Sidari is located on the picturesque north coast of Corfu. It is a very big and also flat resort which makes it popular with the older holiday maker too. It is very child friendly with daytime and night time entertainment within the resort. You will find many tavernas, bars and restaurants in the resort centre and there is even a horse riding centre for the children. There are several beaches in Sidari and the majority of them being sandy with safe seas to bathe in.
There is a selection of water sports on the beaches but for some reason you wont find any jet skiing. A definite must see when travelling to Sidari is the Canal D’Amour. This landmark is the cliffs and rock formation caused by wind erosion and is a beautiful focal point.
Kassiopi is another resort for the families. Kassiopi is located on the north east coast of Corfu and brings old and new together. Kassiopi was once a sleepy fishing village but now is a lively resort during the day and on a night with plenty to see and do. The old charm of the resort still shines through with the fishermen still brining their catches of the day in to the pretty harbour area of Kassiopi. The beaches in this area are predominantly pebbly but beautiful all the same. The main focal point of Kassiopi is the remains of Kassiopi Castle which over looks the harbour from the cliff top.
Two resorts which are a must to see when in Corfu are Paleokastritsa and Corfu Town. These two resorts are to be visited but I don’t think they are ideal places to base your family holiday.
Kavos has an amazing five mile stretch of beach which is a definite day trip. The beach is sandy and has clear blue seas and is very safe for swimming, even for younger children. It is a favourite beach with families but certainly not an ideal base for you family holiday.
Where ever you decide to base yourself on the island, there is plenty to do and see around the whole island making it a great place to discover and explore.
There are many cheap Corfu holidays on the market and could quite possibly be one of the best Greek islands to visit.
