A new travel insurance product is being launched with the aim of meeting the needs of female holidaymakers.
Bikini Travel Insurance includes basic provisions such as cover for medical costs, repatriation, cancellation and curtailment but also encompasses specialist services for women.
The company said that its product will provide insurance for “items important to the ladies”, such as clothes, shoes, handbags, beauty products, hair straighteners and watches.
Furthermore, customers will be able to access a crisis response service for help in a difficult or potentially dangerous situation, for instance if they have lost their passport or been the victim of a crime.
Women planning a hen party or wedding abroad can sign up for tailored packages offering cover for items and eventualities such as costumes, accessories and delayed flights.
As a specialist provider, Bikini Travel Insurance will also sell additional insurance for extreme sports and activities.
Elite ski racer and British Olympic hopeful Chemmy Alcott has been signed up as the face of the new company for its launch.
Medical underwriter Charlotte Lee Field, who designed the policy, said: “This has been a great opportunity to think hard about travel insurance policies from a female perspective and design-in feminine features that you just can’t get elsewhere.”
The service will be fully available from November 14th 2011.
