Manchester born and bred biker Pete Johnson is completing his dream trip of visiting all 33 Manchesters in the United States and Canada, courtesy of the Bennetts Biking Dream's 80th anniversary campaign. We'll be bringing you regular updates from his trip…
Well, I can hardly even believe I'm writing this. but welcome to my first report from the road as I fulfil my dream to travel by motorcycle to every Manchester in America and Canada. That's a total of 33 Manchesters. I didn't think I'd ever actually get to do this, but thanks to Bennetts Biker Dreams, here I am!
Right now, I'm writing this update from Boston, Massachusetts. The past 48 hours have been a blur. Nobody tells you that when your dreams finally come true, it's as crazy as it is exciting (not that I'd change anything!).
But I'm just a normal guy so I'm still in shock after the incredible media interest in what I'm doing – I've done radio and tv interviews, I've been in the papers, and my Twitter followers are clocking up so fast I can hardly keep count.
On top of all that, yesterday, I was awake for 21 hours – I got here at 10pm local time, although in my head, it was more like 3am. Today is where the excitement really begins – because I'm heading to Boston Honda to pick up my bike! Then I'm riding down to my very first Manchester, Manchester-by-the-Sea, in Massachusetts!
I'll be documenting my whole trip with pictures, videos and blogs, either here, on facebook/roadtomanchester, twitter/road2manchester or on facebook/bennetts.
Hello to everyone reading from home, whether you're friends, family, or just want to follow my journey.
