Ideas for a family getaway this Easter

Easter is a great time of year for families to spend some quality time together. As the children are off school and most adults will have at least a couple of days off work due to the bank holidays, you should find there is the opportunity to take a break away.
As the days stay brighter for longer, an Easter getaway presents the perfect chance for kids and grown-ups alike to dismiss any winter blues they may have. With that in mind, here's a look at some of the different kinds of holiday you may wish to go on.
Villa holiday
Although temperatures in the UK tend to steadily increase as Easter approaches, the famously unpredictable British climate means there's a good chance it may rain over the bank holiday season. As such, if you want to have guaranteed good weather you might want to think about taking an overseas villa holiday to continental Europe.
With countries like Spain, Greece and Portugal tending to have pleasant weather virtually all year round, you and your loved ones can bask in golden rays. Add this to the fact you'll be staying in spacious self-catering accommodation, and you ought to find everyone can relax in comfort.
Opting to stay in a self-catering villa also means you get to cook your own meals each night. This can prove to be far cheaper than eating out every night, with shopping for groceries at stores and markets offering a great way to get a glimpse into the lives of the locals in the place you're visiting.
You are spoilt for choice when it comes to destinations for a villa holiday at Easter, though heading to the Mediterranean could be particularly ideal for families keen on soaking up some sunshine. Choose to visit the likes of Cyprus, Mallorca and the Algarve, and you'll come across beautiful villas that not only feature their own private swimming pool but are also close to glittering golden beaches.
Head to Malta, for example, and you and your family can spend some time relaxing on the shores of Pretty Bay. This lovely stretch of sand is situated near the seaside resort of Birzebbuga and is a popular spot for swimming and windsurfing, as well as general relaxation, so there should be plenty to keep your family occupied.
Glamping getaway
If you'd rather stay a little closer to home, it's worth looking into going on a glamping holiday. Pembrokeshire and the Isle of Wight are two popular destinations for such getaways and, by going on this kind of break, you and your family can spend some quality time together and connect with nature.
Although such accommodation tends to be situated in idyllic rural locations, it would be a mistake to think taking such breaks means you have to do away with the creature comforts of home entirely. Depending on the type of property you stay in, you could have access to a modern kitchen, mains electricity and a king-sized bed, so there's little need for you to go without.
Nature-focused break
Families who are really keen to feel at one with the world around them during the Easter period may want to look at taking a nature-focused break where they can explore a destination's flora and fauna up close. Lanzarote is a particularly good place for this kind of holiday. Not only is the Spanish island home to numerous fantastic villas, but it contains a dozen protected natural areas.
In the Famara cliffs on the northern stretches of the island, you'll come across a great array of endemic plants that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. However, with Lanzarote containing more botanical endemisms per square kilometre than the rest of Europe, you should find stunning wildlife no matter where you go.
