How to get here

There are numerous ways to reach the Channel Islands from the UK, but arguably the most convenient is flying, because this will see you touch down in Jersey within a matter of a couple of hours. Indeed, if you embark on your holiday from an airport in London you will be here inside of 60 minutes.

At least 12 flights take off from the UK capital bound for the island every day so you will have plenty of choice about when you travel. However, you don't have to journey all the way to London to catch your plane, as flights depart from 25 regional airports across the UK including Glasgow, Belfast, Cardiff, Birmingham and Manchester.

It is also possible to charter a flight, and because several operators offer this service, you may find that doing this is more affordable than you think. If you don't wish to fly you're in luck, because there are other ways to reach the island. One of the most popular is taking the high-speed catamaran across the English Channel, which you can board in Portsmouth or Poole. Finally, you can sail here yourself, as the Channel Islands are an extremely popular destination with yachtsmen. The waters around the isles are renowned for their excellent cruising conditions, so either bring your own vessel along or charter one from a yacht club on the island.

Once you're here

Jersey only measures 9 miles by 5, making it very easy to get around. While you might have planned to stay in one place once you have reached Jersey, it is well worth travelling around it if you get the chance. Luckily, with so many forms of transport at your disposal you should find this easy.

The public bus network will take you to practically anywhere you want on the island and you can purchase a one, three or five-day pass that will make getting around more convenient and affordable.

Finally, it's worth hiring a bike during your break in Jersey so you can see more of the countryside and areas where motorised transport can't travel.
