Bring your furry friend with you on holidays with pets
Our animals really are like members of the family and due to this, pet-friendly holiday homes can be the ideal accommodation for ensuring that everyone gets to enjoy an annual break together.
Dogs love nothing more than being with their human companions, particularly when they are somewhere new where they can stretch their legs and spend long hours outside exploring. Because of this, Interhome is pleased to be able to provide plenty of holiday accommodation options that welcome canine companions – which means you can all enjoy a break together.
Taking holidays with pets
Enjoying holidays with pets is something you may want to do on a regular occasion – particularly if you have children who do not wish to leave their best friends behind.
However, until now you may have felt limited to only taking a UK-based break when travelling with an animal and leaving your dog at the kennels or in the care of a neighbour whenever you jet off abroad.
Here at Interhome, we have plenty of accommodation choices that can see you taking your animals with you to a foreign country so that they can enjoy the adventure too.
Whether you want to book a break in town, in a countryside setting or near to the beach, you will find something suitable on our website that welcomes both you and your pooch, so why not get browsing?
What should I know about taking my pet on holiday overseas?
Taking your animal overseas may have been something you have so far avoided amid concerns your beloved critter would have to spend several long weeks in quarantine either before setting off or upon your return.
However, if your dog, cat or ferret is based with you in the UK and you wish to take a break in a destination within the European Union, you qualify under the Pet Travel Scheme – meaning there is no need for a quarantine period.
There are a number of things you will need to do in order to take advantage of this, including getting your dog microchipped, having him vaccinated against rabies and getting him a blood test to ensure that he has satisfactory protection against the disease.
Next, you will require an EU pet passport – although you will only be able to take five of your animals in and out of the country with you. Ahead of your return journey to the UK – specifically between 24 and 48 hours before setting off – your furry companion will need to be treated against ticks and tapeworm.
You should also ensure you travel with an approved transport company.
Interhome makes sure you never have to leave your dog behind
We have a huge selection of stunning French properties on offer – all of which welcome dogs.
From apartments in town to gorgeous farmhouses in the country, you, your pet and the whole family are sure to have an amazing break in these locations.
And of course it is not only pets that are welcome here, but guide dogs and other companion canines as well – which may be welcome news if you have been concerned about travelling outside the UK because you were worried about leaving your helper behind.
Indeed, you are all sure to remember the holiday you took as a whole family forever.
