Britain also has some very clean and safe beaches, especially in the South West, with many places having lifeguards on duty during the peak months.

Even in the era of cheap flights, travelling abroad can be expensive with costs including airport parking, reserved seating, luggage, and much more. If you holiday in the UK, you can simply load up the car or book train tickets, and go. Accommodation can also work out cheaper, especially if you book self-catering cottages, as this means you can shop in local stores and have the flexibility to cook your own meals. Cottages, apartments, and other such accommodation allows you to have a home from home experience, something that you don’t always get in a hotel room. It also means you aren’t stuck sleeping in the same room as the kids, and you can often bring your dog along.
Short journeys
If you factor in driving to the airport, taking the flight, and then transfers at the other side, even a short flight can waste several hours of your time. The UK has an excellent road and rail network, and nowhere is more than a few hours’ drive. If you fancy going further afield, you can always break your journey up into two days, with a stop in an interesting town along the way. Because Britain is full of exciting places to visit, it’s easy to find somewhere along your route to stop, or you could just be spontaneous and look out for places to stop along the way.
