Zambia
Zambia – the ‘real’ Africa – has become a major destination for safaris as well as for people wanting to view the impressive Victoria Falls.
Zambia boasts 17 other magnificent waterfalls and plenty of lakes and rivers, which offer excellent fishing. For those who enjoy slightly more adrenaline-fuelled activities, the Zambezi River offers grade five rapids and the world-famous 111m bungee jump is also located in Zambia – from the bridge that joins Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The nearby town of Livingstone has become a centre for adventure and safari holidays of all types. Zamia is rich in wildlife and is home of some of the best Game reserves in the world, including the South Luangwa Game Reserve and the Lower Zambezi National Park, where canoeing safaris are recommended.
The Chimfunshi chimpanzee sanctuary and animal orphanage on the banks of the Kafue River – an internationally recognised wildlife rescue centre – is the place to go to get up close and personal with wildlife.
