Thomson is set to introduce a new direct flight from the UK to Tivat in Montenegro from summer 2010.
Citing the east European destination as “up and coming” the tour operator hopes to make the destination more accessible to holidaymakers.
With a flying time of less than three hours this seems a distinct possibility.
A new country after gaining independence in 2006 from the former Yugoslavia, Montenegro is an exotic and beautiful part of the world with a rich and colourful past.
Home to 117 beaches, the so-called Pearl of the Mediterranean offers a heady mix of resorts that cater for all tastes, whether looking to just relax on a sun bed or enjoy the various experiences this land has to offer.
The country’s main resorts are situated along a breathtakingly beautiful coast, including the scenic and popular Becici beach, family friendly Ulcini and the lively town of Budvar, where Hollywood royalty (including the likes of Sophia Loren and Richard Burton) used to holiday.
With prices starting from just £479 per person, Thomson offer a variety of package holidays to Montenegro to suit all tastes and budgets, including the five star Splendid Spa resort on Becici beach that features one of the largest spas in Europe, the modern and stylish four star Queen of Montenegro in Becici and the chic and contemporary four star Avala Resort and Villa in Budva.
