Grenada
The three-island nation of Grenada was discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1498 and became known as the “Spice Island”. To this day, it still is one of the world’s leading producers of spices such as nutmeg and cinnamon.
The main island – Grenada Island – has a lush, mountainous interior rife with waterfalls and springs. Popular with eco-travellers, the most popular area in Grenada, for hiking and trekking, is in the rainforest surrounding the Grand Etang Lake, in the central part of the island.
With 45 picturesque beaches to choose from in Grenada, you can spend your days lazing on the sand or snorkelling in the crystal-clear ocean. Grand Anse beach is a favourite in Grenada, with its sheltered bay and two-mile-long stretch of golden sand.
The locals like to have a good time too, so when you are not relaxing on the white-sanded beaches, there are plenty of festivals and carnivals to enjoy.
