Families looking for an activity holiday could head to Italy’s Liguria region, where a number of local fishermen are offering Brits the chance to share in their knowledge of the sea.
In Liguria – the area’s tourism body – is hoping to welcome more visitors by helping them connect with the natural beauty of the coastline.
It explained that the Slow Food movement is catching on and holidaymakers are enjoying taking trips with the fishermen, catching their own food and enjoying fresh grilled fish, as well as taking in the splendour of Liguria.
The men who offer the tours are proud of their traditional knowledge and take care of the resources that feed them and their families.
Those who go along on a day trip can expect to learn about how the locals live and can enjoy swimming in the clear waters or sunbathing on the deck of the boat after a morning of hailing nets and traps.
The favourable weather and conditions mean that such experiences can be had throughout the year and those interested can find out more on www.turismoinliguria.it.
Liguria is located in north-west Italy and is known for its beautiful beaches, picturesque little towns and good food.
