Milan hotels are offering average stays of £84 per night
Miami, Milan and Nice have topped the list of destinations that are most likely to see a late summer price drop, according to the Hotwire Secret Travel report.
The report predicts late-summer savings with an analysis based on 90-days of Google searches, Twitter conversations and hotel booking queries.
According to the findings, Miami hotels are offering stays for an average of £84 per night, Milan for £67 and Nice for £110, with further discounts expected for those who use ‘secret’ travel sites and book 2-4 weeks ahead of travel.
For those looking to stay closer to home, Cambridge, Oxford and Belfast are likely to experience a dip in visitor numbers and offer a good deal.
Fulvia Montresor, Hotwire's travel expert, explained why more deals are expected to appear over the next four months: "Hotels that don’t want to publicise the fact they are discounting rooms frequently work with firms such as Hotwire to offer deep discounts via the secret rooms model, where the general location of the property is shown but the name of the hotel is not revealed until the booking is completed.
"This booking model allows holidaymakers to stay at 4 and 5-star hotels for 2-star prices and enables hotels to sell rooms that would otherwise remain unsold.”
The destinations least likely to reduce prices are London, Paris and New York, simply because of high demand - these have been the most searched-for places on the Hotwire website over the last three months.
